📱 Personal Communication Devices - State Law Reminder
Texas Education Code Sec. 37.082 establishes statewide expectations regarding student use of personal communication devices during the school day.
To help ensure a focused learning environment, students may not use personal communication devices while on school property during the instructional day. Devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds/headphones, tablets, and similar electronic devices, must remain stored in the student's backpack unless otherwise directed by school staff.
This policy applies to all Cleveland ISD campuses and is designed to:
• 📚 Minimize classroom distractions
• 👩🏫 Maximize instructional time
• 🎯 Keep students engaged in learning
• 🏫 Ensure consistency with Texas law

Mrs. Figueroa brings more than 25 years of experience in public education and a proven commitment to academic excellence, student achievement, and building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. Throughout her career, she has served as a teacher, dyslexia specialist, assistant principal, and principal, earning the respect of colleagues and communities through her dedication to student success.
Most recently serving as Assistant Principal at Lyons Elementary in Houston ISD, Mrs. Figueroa is known for her collaborative leadership style, instructional expertise, and unwavering belief that every student deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
As we continue moving Forward Together, we are confident that Mrs. Figueroa's leadership will help strengthen the culture of excellence at Santa Fe Middle School and create new opportunities for students and staff alike.
